Yes, depending on the illness or type of complaint, you can also feed your cat KATTOVIT Gastro permanently.

• In the case of temporary gastrointestinal complaints due to curable diseases or a sensitive digestive tract, it is recommended that KATTOVIT Gastro is initially fed for up to 12 weeks.
• In the case of chronic diseases such as pancreatic insufficiency, KATTOVIT Gastro can also be fed for life - it is best to seek the advice of a vet.

Feeding KATTOVIT Gastro on a long-term basis can soothe and relieve your cat's digestive tract, so that the animal can benefit from better health and a higher quality of life in the long term.

If your cat has diarrhoea, observe it closely and try to determine the cause of the diarrhoea. Possible causes are stress, food intolerance, a sudden change of food, poisoning, parasite infestation, an infection or a more serious illness. You should initially keep an outdoor cat indoors so that you can observe it more closely and rule out possible sources of danger outdoors. If the diarrhoea occurs only once and your cat otherwise appears normal, you should not worry too much. Make sure your cat feels comfortable and drinks enough and offer him a light diet. If your cat's diarrhoea lasts longer than 24 hours and the animal shows other symptoms and behavioural abnormalities, you should definitely consult a vet.

The duration of an illness with a gastrointestinal virus depends on various factors. Healthy adult cats can recover after just a few days, while older animals and kittens need a little more time to recover. If the symptoms last longer than two weeks, they may already be chronic. If a viral infection is suspected, a vet should therefore always be consulted at an early stage.

If you notice that your cat has abdominal pain, you should also look out for other symptoms. If your pet also has diarrhea and is vomiting, first of all give him rest and a warm, safe place. After the first symptoms, refrain from feeding for a few hours. The symptoms often disappear on their own after a short time. Do not force your cat to cuddle, even if you mean well. If cats feel sick or unwell, they like to withdraw and be alone. If stomach pains and the like last longer than 12 hours, consult a vet.

If your cat is struggling with stomach problems such as gastritis, the stomach needs to rest first. Water is important to keep the fluid balance in balance, but food - whether dry food or wet food - should be avoided for a few hours after the diagnosis. After that, the motto is: step by step. It is best to opt for easily digestible, easily digestible light food. Raw fiber and fatty foods should be avoided, as they can put a lot of strain on the stomach. Easily digestible meat such as chicken or duck as well as filling and nutrient-rich foods such as rice are particularly well suited to the diet plan. The KATTOVIT Gastro range has been specially developed for cats with stomach problems and their special needs and provides easily digestible food with the best nutrients.

Gastritis in cats, whether acute or chronic, is usually curable. While acute gastritis usually does not require extensive intervention with medication and the like, chronic inflammation may require more extensive treatment depending on its intensity. Nevertheless, the cat's stomach can usually be soothed with a light diet and a change of food. However, to prevent the gastritis from recurring, the cause must also be identified and treated appropriately. This may involve incurable diseases. In any case, it is important that you react quickly as soon as symptoms appear. A protracted gastritis can lead to a stomach ulcer and, in the worst case, can be life-threatening if the stomach empties into the cat's abdomen.

If cats are in pain, they usually try to hide it for a long time. They withdraw and show little sign of it. You can usually recognize abdominal pain in your cat by the fact that it adopts a bent posture with its back arched and its stomach drawn in. If you pick your cat up, it will not like it if it has stomach pain and will hardly tolerate you touching it. Suffering cats often show their dislike by hissing or scratching, and as abdominal pain is often a symptom of a more serious illness or injury, there are often other signs such as exhaustion, tiredness, refusal to eat, vomiting, diarrhea, growling, moaning or problems with defecation. Observe your cat closely and have it examined by a vet if you suspect abdominal pain or other symptoms.
